The free and easy wanderer. My painting and drawing work is poetical, concrete and abstract. Characteristic is the use of colour fields often in combination with lines and drawings. The colour fields are layered, generally monochrome. The drawings are informal. They are of themselves and in themselves and do not refer to a hidden meaning.  

The visual image on canvas may consist of lines in an almost empty field. In that wide silent space it is the detail, the small , that speaks loudly. my paintings show how I combine these apparent opposites with each other. An expressive painting gesture in a timeless space, an expressive moment in diffuse lightness, the dark in the light, the light in the dark.  See also: instagram.com/ mariakuiken
